Keuper marl is an obsolete name for multiple layers of mudstone and siltstone of Triassic age which occur beneath parts of the English Midlands and neighbouring areas e.g. Cheshire, Nottinghamshire, Devon, eastern Worcestershire and northern Yorkshire. The benefits of using this type of hard driven modular piling system in this particular facies of the Keuper Marl are discussed and a tentative design philosophy is proposed. Introduction Considerable research on the Keuper Marl has been undertaken'by Birmingham University (ref. 1, ref. 2, ref. 3» ref. h), culminating in a series of CTRIA reports.
